GYMVMT Edgemont offers new Junior Programs in 2021

We are excited to announce that Colin Whitney will be joining us at GYMVMT, Edgemont. Colin has over 20 years of coaching experience, coaching all levels from beginners to world ranked players. He is an England Squash Level 3 Advanced Coach and has been a Squash Professional in clubs in England, Ireland, Bermuda, and Canada and was the Irish Junior Coach from 2003 - 2005. He has been an active advocate for junior squash programs in Calgary and we are excited to have him join our team!
We are also excited to announce that we will be introducing new junior programs at GYMVMT Edgemont! Classes will range from beginner to high performance levels, and you do not need to be a member to register your children for the programs! Please see below for details.
Munchkins These sessions are designed for 4-6-year-olds. Kids will build hand-eye coordination and move around, while having fun playing games and doing squash activities on court!
Mondays and Wednesdays 4.15-5pm Saturdays 9-9:45am.
Active Start These classes are for kids who are interested in starting the game or have played before and are looking to improve. The sessions will focus on the fundamental skills and court rules for squash. The classes are a lot of fun and a great workout for the kids. Mondays and Wednesdays 5-6pm, Saturdays 10-11am.
This class is for junior players who have started playing and are looking to compete. Sessions will focus on improving their skills, game play and working towards becoming a competitive player.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 5-6pm; Saturdays 11am-12pm.
Competitive (invite only) The competitive classes are designed for juniors who are looking to improve fast. Sessions will focus on improving the players swing, shots and movement. Juniors in this class will be encouraged to enter squash Alberta bronze, silver, and gold events.
Mondays, Wednesdays 6-7:30pm Saturday 2-3:30pm
High Performance (invite only) The high-performance program is designed for juniors who are at a provincial or national level. Juniors in this program will play tournaments provincially and nationally and will be expected to train three times a week plus private lessons.
Tuesdays, Thursdays 6-7:30pm and Saturdays 12-1:30pm
Alberta Squash Racquets Association was established in 1967 as a registered non-profit society in the Province of Alberta and is the governing body for the sport of squash in Alberta. In the late 80's the operating name was changed to Squash Alberta. The role of Squash Alberta is to promote and facilitate the development of squash for all Albertans.
