2016 National Doubles Championships

Posted on 03/29/2016
The 2016 National Doubles Squash Championships is set to begin for local teams tomorrow, March 30, 2016, and for all participants on Thursday March 31st. This marks the first time in the events 82 year history that it will be held in Alberta and so far, the organizing committee has exceeded expectations at every turn. Aggressive marketing and advertising has not only brought in a bounty of sponsors, with Roger's Insurance leading the way as title sponsor of the event, but the entry response has also been overwhelming. Original plans for 180 total entrants (90 teams) were blown out of the water when the event sold out prior to the early bird deadline in January! After expanding entries twice since then, the event is now at capacity with over 260 participants (130 teams) competing!!!

Squash Alberta will also be partnering with WorldPlay to stream matches at the host Glencoe Club from Thursday - Sunday so that Squash Doubles enthusiasts from around the world won't miss this historic event. Check out the following link: 2016 Canadian Doubles Squash Nationals Live Streaming starting Thursday for all the action! A menu link is also available to the right of our Tournament Schedule on the front page. Streaming is completely free and matches will be available on demand within 2 days following play until the end of April for those who can't watch live!

Matches will be played at all 4 doubles courts within the city of Calgary: The Glencoe Club (host), Bow Valley Club, Calgary Winter Club, and World Health Edgemont. More event information can be found on both our and the events facebook pages (https://www.facebook.com/squashab and https://www.facebook.com/Canadiandoublessquash/) and the draws are also available on Squash Canada's Website.

Please follow the event and share with the rest of the squash community. Everyone in Calgary and across the province is confident this will be the best National Doubles Event ever!
