Canada’s junior squash athletes are set to return to South America this summer for the 2025 Pan American Junior Championships, taking place June 29 to July 5 in Santiago, Chile. Following a strong showing at last year’s event, Team Canada will be heading into this year’s competition with a blend of veteran competitors and talented newcomers, ready to take on junior players from across the Americas. The team is anchored by four returning members: Veera Dhaliwal (BC), Calder Murray (AB), Zoe Chong (ON) and Anderson Brown (BC), whose international experience will be key across singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and team play. They’re joined by talented newcomers, Sasha Lee (ON), Aneesa Tejani (ON), Yusuf Matti-Alvarez (BC), and Orin Song (BC). Guiding the team is Giselle Delgado, a two-time Pan American Games bronze medallist and Canada’s current No. 3, and Andrew Lynn, a BC-based multi-time Team Canada Coach and former Top 100 professional player. Making her Pan American Team debut, Aneesa Tejani said, “I am incredibly honoured to be chosen to represent Team Canada at the Pan Am Junior Championship in Santiago, Chile. It’s such an amazing opportunity, and I’m really excited to be part of it.” Teammate Orin Song echoed her enthusiasm: “I'm most looking forward to playing squash with other juniors from the Americas. It is super exciting to play for Canada.” Returning after last year’s appearance in Ecuador, Veera Dhaliwal shared, “I am super excited to compete at the Pan Ams. It was a great experience last year in Ecuador, and I am looking forward to competing this year in Chile. It’s always an honour and privilege to represent Canada!” Calder Murray, also back for a second year, added, “I am really excited to be representing Canada again at the Junior Pan Ams. I hope to use my experience from last year to help my teammates and bring home more medals for Team Canada!” Junior Women Aneesa Tejani Sasha Lee Veera Dhaliwal Zoe Chong Junior Men Anderson Brown Calder Murray Orin Song Yusuf Matti-Alvarez | |
