Team Alberta had a strong start on Friday with convincing wins over Manitoba B and BC in day 1. Having secured the second seed spot behind Ontario and ahead of Manitaba A in the Championship Pool, Alberta settled in for a tough back to back schedule for Saturday, playing Ontario at 930am and then Manitoba A at 215pm. Team Alberta came out strong and played hard, unfortunately falling to the Gold Medal Champs (Ont) in a tightly contested encounter. In our second encounter of the day, Team Alberta was unable to find the rythm to squeak out a Silver Medal finish over the hometown Favorite Manitoba A Team in front of a packed hometown crowd - what an amazing atmosphere to play in.
The Winnipeg Winter Club, Head Squash Pro - Trevor Borland and his crew, put on an amazing event with lots of fun, laughs, camaraderie and extremely inspiring levels of play across all age groups.
A big thank you to Squash Alberta for all the support in making it possible for our athletes to participate in this wonderful event.
Congratulations to Team Ontario for another strong and inspriring Gold Medal victory and to Team Manitoba for an amazing performance in bringing home the Silver in front of their home crowd.
Team Alberta can't wait until 2025 to give it another go for Gold!
