The Canadian Junior Open Presented by Forthlane Partners Begins This Weekend at White Oaks
The Canadian Junior Open is around the corner and will host over 350 world-class athletes from across Canada and beyond. The event will be held at the Club at White Oaks Resort and Spa, and for the first time, at Ridley College, at their new Jack Aylott Squash Centre, from December 7 to December 10.
Some of Canada's most talented juniors will be competing this weekend, including top seeds Wing Kai Gladys Ho (BC) and Tsz Ling Alyssa Ho (BC) in the GU19 event; Wasey Maqsood (ON) and Samuel Boulanger (AB) in BU19; Salma Hassan (QC) and Heyang Angela Hong (BC) in GU17; and Yusuf Matti-Alvarez (BC) and Calder Murrary (BC) in BU17.
Beyond the usual matches, this year’s event will include a Wheelchair Squash demonstration, on Saturday, December 7 between 11AM - 1PM. Don’t miss seeing these amazing and determined athletes demonstrate their stamina and athleticism, as well as how fun and accessible Wheelchair Squash is.
Another highlight will be a United States' College Squash Association (CSA) match between Western University and St. Lawrence University, showcasing an exciting display of elite university squash. Western's Men’s Squash Team is the top-ranked university team in Canada, boasting an impressive 50 OUA titles, 40 of which are consecutive. They are the only Canadian team competing in the CSA, where they currently hold a strong position at No. 11. St. Lawrence is currently ranked No. 23 in the CSA League and is known for their competitive spirit and skilled roster. This head-to-head promises to deliver an exciting blend of talent and competition from two powerhouse teams.
